Djokovic Defeats Tsitsipas in Straight Sets
Serbia's Novak Djokovic won his 10th Grand Slam title at the Australian Open on Sunday, defeating Greece's Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets. The 35-year-old Djokovic dominated the match from the start, winning 6-3, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5). The victory means that Djokovic has now tied Rafael Nadal's record of 22 Grand Slam titles.
Djokovic's victory was a year after he was deported from Australia over his refusal to be vaccinated against Covid-19. A year later, he reclaimed the Grand Slam title he has won more than any other man.
Djokovic has now won the Australian Open twice as many times as any other man in history. He is also the only man to have won all four Grand Slam titles twice in the Open era.
Djokovic's victory is a major boost to his hopes of winning a calendar-year Grand Slam. He is the first man since Rod Laver in 1969 to win the first three Grand Slam tournaments of the year.
