5 Seconds of Summer (commonly known as 5SOS) is an Australian pop-rock band that emerged from Sydney, New South Wales, in late 2011.

The band comprises four members: Luke Robert Hemmings (born July 16), who provides lead vocals; Calum Thomas Hood (born January 25, 1996), who plays bass guitar; Ashton Irwin, who handles drums; and Michael Clifford, who plays lead guitar.

Early Success and Global Recognition

5SOS gained initial recognition through social media, posting covers of popular songs on YouTube. Their breakthrough came in 2013 when they caught the attention of One Direction, who invited them on their "Take Me Home" tour.

Since then, 5SOS has released multiple albums, including "5 Seconds of Summer" (2014), "Sounds Good Feels Good" (2015), and "Youngblood" (2018). The band has achieved numerous awards, including an American Music Award and multiple ARIA Music Awards.
